The goal of our "Green Day" project is to plant the seed of sustainabilily into the minds and behaviours of our students, with the ultimate goal of this knowledge and awareness to be spread to the parents and the community. Schoolyards tend to be places for children to play games and sports. This means a lot of concrete, a few play structures and large fields, all of which lack biodiversity. The goal of our project is to an unused piece of the school yeard, enhance it, and make it accessible for students to use and study to really appreciate what can be found in these "wastelands". We are proposing to put up swallow nest boxes, create a butterfly garden, build a bridge to access the area and create some paths so the students can explore with the least amount of disturbance possible.

We are continuing our efforts to have a forced air furnace converted to geothermal energy. We are developing a complete educational package which will include a video journal, researched information on geothermal energy and various educational resources connected to geothermal energy. We are working closely with our media students who are assisting int he development of our brochure, our video journal and other multi-media elements of the work. This is a multi-year project that engages students in increasing numbers every year.
